A wonderful restful fortnight with lots of laughter and games.   Went to the remembrance service at Church and given a warm welcome.  The cooking apples from the trees were much appreciated.  The Haybarton has been so comfortable and warm but it is now back to home.  We hope to return soon.

October 2013
Both cottages.   We were last here in 2008.  Super holiday accommodation.  We were very lucky with the weather, mild, hardly any rain and a few sunny days.  One of these, Sunday, we had an excellent and good value lunch at the Aviator – Pub/restaurant, directly overlooking the airfield, with colourful light aircraft taking off and landing every few minutes.  Also regular parachute drops!  Fun for all ages.  Great local walks and bike rides.  So much to see and do and the Sidmouth Arms was great.  Sorry to leave.
Families Scott, Shannon, Elliott, Goddards from Northern Ireland and Winchester.

As soon as we arrived, we knew we were going to love it here.   Thank you for sharing Haybarton cottage with us, it is so comfortable with stunning views over Devon countryside from every window.  We had a wonderful stay with you and very much enjoyed your friendly welcome and thank you for the super welcome pack.  We had really good meals at the Sidmouth Arms in the village and we visited most of the local towns and villages.  We had good fun feeding and putting the ducks to bed and feeding the trout in the pond.  I am sure we will be back.

Another wonderful holiday.  Our 11th visit!   We have revisited all our favourite places:  Lyme Regis, Beer, Exmouth, Crealy, as well as lots of chillin’ time here at Bidwell.  (Our favourite part of the holiday).
Thank you Caroline for your wonderful welcome pack and of course a huge thank you from us all to Richard and Patsy for being the best hosts ever.
Thank you for making it another wonderful holiday.   I’ve made three new friends, two from Germany and Josh.   I enjoyed all the games once again.   But I wasn’t too happy when we didn’t catch anything at Lyme Regis.   Love from Joe (9)

July- August 2013

May 2013
We chose Bidwell and the Haybarton as we were a group of six.  We had a family from Russia who had never stayed in England.   What a week!!  Sun every day.  We have lovely tans going home.  Caught over 20 trout in the pond.  All safely returned.  The ducks visited us every day and became very good friends.  We travelled the south coast, visited many coastal towns, and ate some lovely food.  We enjoyed the accommodation and could not fault anything.  It was perfect.  Our Russian friends were blown away with the facilities and ability to hire such accommodation.   Very envious of our ability to enjoy lovely countryside at such reasonable cost.  Altogether fantastic!
Smith Family, Bedfordshire and Ukraine.

April 2013
Once again we stayed in the Haybarton.  We had a lovely time collecting the eggs, going fishing and playing on the bridge and swing!  Through the week there was some showers but we always found something to do.  We also went fossil hunting recommended by Richard, and found some amazing fossils.  We all had a lovely time once again, and you always try and make our stay a little bit more special and it always is.
The Hardy Family, Essex

March-April 2013

New area for a holiday for us all.  Delightful countryside for late winter walking.  Had fun wondering around.  Weather ranged from heavy frost and snow through biting winds, rain and sunshine.  Just a typical March week.  Accommodation just what we wanted.  Most enjoyable.

November 2012
This is our third visit to the Haybarton cottage and we have had another wonderful time.  Richard and Patsy were very welcoming and their knowledge of the local area meant that we had a brilliant day out in Topsham – we even returned the day after for another look around the Antique Centre (three floors!!)  The Brasserie, opposite the centre, do fantastic coffees and the food looked lovely although after a big breakfast we did not have any room. Thank you for a fantastic stay!!

October-November 2012
Thank you so much Patsy and Richard for your wonderful hospitality.  From the moment we arrived you made us feel welcome and relaxed and your homemade goodies were delicious.  We have had such a lovely week with our two young boys.  The weather has been temperamental but there is plenty to do come rain or shine.  Would recommend hiring bicycles in Exeter and cycling along the river and beside the beaches at Beer and Seaton.  Our favourite place to eat has to be the Railway Inn, Honiton.  Great food, buzzing atmosphere and very child friendly.  We have had a busy week exploring the delights of Devon but the highlight of the week has to be the very friendly and funny ducks!!  Our boys have loved watching them hurtle down the hill at great speed to be the first to the bread.  Mum and Dad, on the other hand, also loved the cosy log fires at the end of each fun packed day.  All in all, a wonderful, memorable week had by all.  Already planning our return.  Thanks so much.
Richardson Family, Bayford, Herts.

October 2012
It was our aunty's wedding yesterday......... we came back to the cottage with friends and family. It was a lovely setting. Everyone had a great time. We had the fire going and music playing. We had the wedding photos taken outside by the swings. The sun was shining and it was great. We all had an amazing time here and it was such a great place to have the wedding.......... "just amazing" "magical" "beautiful" loved it.

Bridesmaids, Georgia, Emily (aged 13 and 11 bridesmaids).

We hired both cottages so we could celebrate our marriage with close family and friends. We were recommended the cottages by my brother who had stayed here some years ago, we were not disappointed! It is a perfect setting and the cottages are beautiful. Even if we had been millionaires we would not have wanted to celebrate our special day anywhere else............ We will definitely come back again, it is a very special place.

Our 10th (wow) visit! And just as wonderful as all our previous stays. Wonderful meals out at Sidmouth Arms in the village, The Railway Inn at Honiton and the highly recommended Merry Harriers where we dined on scallops, lamb and steak (not all on one plate). Thanks Richard and Patsy for making us feel like part of your family.

Despite the mixed weather we've had great days out at Escot, Sidmouth, Bicton Park and Powderham Castle then back to Bidwell to enjoy the fantastic cottage and idyllic surroundings. From the delicious smell of freshly baked bread on our arrival, we knew we were going to enjoy our stay at Bidwell.  We were not disappointed – it is a truly wonderful place for a family holiday.  We were three generations and there was something for us all.  The children and adults, looked forward to putting the ducks to bed each evening and collecting the eggs each morning.  Fly fishing was very popular with one member of our party and the play equipment was a huge success.  We cannot leave Bidwell without mentioning our hosts, Richard and Patsy.  Nothing was too much trouble and we were privileged to share their beautiful home.  I am sure we will see you again.  Smiths and Rollason, South Staffs.

Visit number 7.  So, just what is it that makes us return?  Crab fishing off the Cob at Lyme Regis, hunting for fossils at Charmouth, a cream tea (or two), getting lost in the maize at Escot for ages, pottering about in Honiton, a pub lunch.......................  I am pretty sure we could do these things from some other conveniently placed holiday cottage but I am one hundred percent certain it would NEVER be the same!  Coming home to such wonderful hosts, being made to feel like a cherished relative, being treated to a rustic handmade loaf, fresh duck eggs, home made marmalade and best of all, a genuinely warm welcome home at the end of a busy day from two of the most endearing people.........   This is why we shall return year upon year.  Patsy and Richard you have created an idyllic home from home where we adults can relax and our children can be children to their hearts’ content.   Billijo, Phil, Emily and Amy, Hampshire.

After staying at many Premier Cottages, we can now say that we have stayed at the best - the Haybarton!. Richard and Patsy can be proud of what they have created in a truly wonderful setting. April 2014

We have had a lovely week staying in the Cowbyre cottage at Bidwell Farm. Bethany has enjoyed playing here. She was a little nervous at the swing bridge "to start with" but had mastered it after a day or two. We have been so lucky with the weather and it has been a bonus to stay in such a peaceful and scenic spot.......... Many thanks for the welcome pack which was much appreciated and enjoyed.

Lieber Richard, liebe Patricia!

August 2013

We have had a fabulous week at Bidwell. What a wonderful setting! The children have really enjoyed the space to run about, play Badminton and Cricket. We have enjoyed trips to Lyme Regis, Seaton, Dawlish Warren, Becky Falls and golf at the local 9 hole course. We definitely needed good walking shoes for Becky Falls but the 45 minute drive was well worth it to see the beauty of Dartmoor and a lovely shaded walk. We have had good food at the local pub and a wonderful meal at the Jack in the Green, excellent food and service. Last but certainly not least, we have really enjoyed staying at the Cowbyre. Richard and Patsy have been very welcome and the welcome pack was appreciated and enjoyed and we had a chance to relax in this peaceful place.

August 2013

Thank you for your warm and tasty welcome. We had a very pleasant week at Bidwell Farm with nice trips to Lyme Regis, Charmouth, Lynmouth and Sidmouth but we also really loved just staying at the Farm to play baseball, feed the ducks, look for the eggs and just relax. It was a really nice time.

Super in every way - cottage, location, area, scenery, food and Richard and Patsy to look after us. The booklet provided really helped us with our holiday. We usually look at the Visitors' Book for top tips so here goes with ours - Places to visit, Lyme Regis (go early for parking), Beer, Branscombe, Topsham, Otterton Mill, lovely cafe and walk along River Otter. Exeter, park and ride very good. Places to eat, Sidmouth Arms in village, the Holt, and our very favourite the Jack in the Green. The treat of a Devon cream tea - Royal Oak Fruit Farm, Stockland Hill.

July 2013

We have voted the Cottage as the best holiday cottage in which we have stayed over many years. Everything we needed was here. The kitchen was particularly well equipped. We had a very warm welcome and the pack of goodies awaiting us encouraged us to try local produces, especially the Otter Valley Icecream. William 8 wore himself out playing cricket and football on the extensive grounds. Visits we enjoyed were to Forde Abbey, Barrington Court and Sidmouth twice. The weather was excellent for swimming. The location and view are wonderful and the tranqulity of the spot most welcome. We have enjoyed our excellent holiday, thank you to Richard and Patsy.

Rented both cottages. What a week! A number of family memories helped by the best weather in the UK for 35 years. Trips to the Donkey Sanctuary, Beer, Sidmouth, Lyme Regis and Honiton interspersed with Tennis, trips to the Sidmouth Arms, Badminton, fly fishing and games of boules, cribbage and cut throat. The week ended with a special celebration for Grandmas's 60th birthday next week.

June 2013

Had a really great week. The accommodation was fantastic and the welcome pack much appreciated. Picked a really great week for the weather and only had one day that was a bit damp. Food at the pub in the village was really good. Would also recommend eating fish and chips on the Cobb at Lyme Regis in the sunshine - wonderfu. but just look out for the gulls!! May 2013

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay in the delightful and well appointed Cow Byre with all mod cons and the views of the cows grazing happily in the fields across the River Otter. The weather was kind after an over-long winter with Devon showing itself to be the glorious country that it is. Family and friends who joined us on the holiday were all thoughly impressed by the beautiful setting and the comfort and facilities in their lodgings. Five stars are no more than deserved! April 2013

From the moment we arrived, the warm welcome we received from Richard and Patsy created the ideal atmosphere for a family holiday. The setting of the cottage, the luxurious nature of the accommodation and the ability of Richard and Patsy to make us feel so part of their extended family has ensured that we have all had a fantastic week. In addition, Richard's patient fly fishing tuition has left a legacy for my son and I that I am sure we willcontinue when we return home. Thank you for a wonderful holiday, one I am sure we will never forget. Paul, Nichole, Harrison and Loic, Worcester.

April 2013

We have enjoyed our stay at Bidwell Farm. Our daughter stayed at Bidwell 4 years ago and highly recommended it as a great place for the family to meet up and celebrate Tom's 70th birthday. The children 5 and 3 had a great time playing on the swings and were most interested in the ducks. James had his first fishing lesson from Grandad and was delighted to have caught one fish on Friday and three on Saturday. Charlotte enjoyed the donkeys at the Donkey Sanctuary and icecream at Lyme Regis. We enjoyed the comfortable accommodation which was all we could have wished for and most suitable for Deboray who is disabled. James said he would love to return and fish the pond when he is a bit older. Tom. Deborah, Debbie, Rosalind, James and Charlotte. Great Bookham. (This family have rebooked for 2014

March 2013

Lieber Richard, Liebe Patricia!

November 2011

We very much enjoyed our stay at Bidwell Farm. Thank you for being the perfect hosts. The bread and the marmalade were delicious. We hope to be back again soon. Derek and Marie, Foxton, Cambridge.

November 2011

Another warm and friendly welcome from Rich and Patsy. First time in the Cowbyre. Very cosy and first class furnishings. Had a lovely break in spite of indifferent weather. Bea & George.

We have had a wonderful stay and Edward (aged 11) said in bed this morning, can we stay for another five years. Tim, Julie and Edward Gray. Sutton Coldfields.

October 2011

We have all had a lovely time but it was just too short! Thank you for the lovely welcome. The kids had a lovely time playing outside as well as in - 4 kids, relaxing I am not sure but we enjoyed ourselves too. The cottage is lovely and it was great to see the ducks nosing in the window every day! Thank you. The Hartstone and Newman Families, Winsor, Berks.

October 2011

One of the nicest cottages we have stayed in. Fully equipped with everything you would want for your holiday stay. very big thank you to Richard and Patsy, you made us feel very welcome and what a lovely surprise; fresh duck eggs, homemade jam and the lovely home baked bread, delicious. Phoebe loved to get up early and let the ducks out of their pen, then looked forward to feeding them at the front door. We will be coming back again to see you as there is so much to do and see. Waltons, Ridgeway, Sheffield.

October 2011

Thank you Richard and Patsy for our mid house moving stay. It was a comfortable and relaxing week. We appreciated your help, apples, pears, jam, bread etc etc. We also loved the duck family. A really super cottage. The Mumford Family, Wendover, Bucks.

September 2011

We have all had a fantastic holiday here. Emma and Charlotte, (2 and 1) have really enjoyed the grounds and feeding the ducks in the morning. The location is superb, both in terms of the scenery and being able to access local places of interest easily. We have managed to get around quite a bit while we have been here but our favourite trips have probably been to the Sidmouth Arms. Also many thanks to Patricia and Richard for being so welcoming and helpful and especially for the homemade bread and marmalade. Hope to be back again. Will, Michaela, Charlotte, David, Marion and Emma, Twickenham, London and Middx.

September 2011

Although only a short break, we all really enjoyed it. The cottage was very comfortable and ideal for disabled with plenty of room for a wheelchair. We also loved the ducks who came down and tapped on the door to tell us they were hungry. Two great meals at the Sidmouth Arms - can certainly recommend the food. Enjoyed a day at Sidmouth and the Donkey Sanctuary. Hopefully another holiday next year. Thanks to Richard and Patsy for their gifts of bread (delicious) and marmalade. A really restful break. Clare, Duncan and Edna, Hampshire.

Stern dazu!  ☆☆☆☆☆ + ☆
Auf Wiedersehen!
