we have stopped offering bed and breakfast in the main farmhouse but will, in off-peak times, take guests for one night into a cottage and can offer breakfast on these occasions. This is of course subject to availability.

wi-Fi Connection
We have at long last managed to extend the Wi-Fi connection from the main farmhouse to both cottages. Mobile telephone connections are also excellent in this valley.
river cottage (9 miles) - After several years of listening to guests' stories of visits to River Cottage, we decided to test out River cottage hospitality and booked Richard into a one day bread making workshop this January. He thoroughly enjoyed his day out and we now offer rustic River cottage inspired loaves in our welcome pack. In February 2011 we booked into one of their 'Friday nights' dining events. The dining room holds about 60 people and was full, mostly with guests from far and wide. There was a party atmosphere and the food was delicious. The buildings and surroundings are rustic, as expected, with wash rooms being outside in the courtyard and the car park being at the top of the hill with a tractor/trailer to transport guests. Paths are stoney so suitable shoes are essential. Verdict - we will go again as we had a fun night.
bidwell farm cottages have again been award the Visit England 5 star GOLD AWARD for both cottages.
We now have a lovely rustic 3 seater swing and a clatter bridge for the children or for the young at heart.

"Wij hebben een fantastische week gehad hier in Bidwell Farm. Dit is absoluut wat iedereen zich voorstelt bij een engelse countryside holiday. The Haybarton Cottage is prachtig, heel erg cosy met mooie ruime kamers, elk met eigen (net gerenoveerd en prachtige) bedkamer en een gezellige engelse woonkeuken en woonkamer. De omgeving en het uitzicht zijn schitterend. Upottery is een echtt authenthiek engels dorpje, denk aan de “Sense and Sensibility” film en je vindt het hier! Onze dochtertjes vonden het allemaal prachtig – iedere ochtend en avond werden de eenden uit en in hun nachtverblijf gelaten en gevoerd, alle ruimte om buiten te spelen en een speeltuintje. De natuur is hier prachtig en ongerept, zoiets vindt je in Nederland niet meer. Wij komen zeker terug!"

We were surprised and delighted to learn that, following our entry into South West Tourism's Excellence Awards 2009, under the heading of "Self Catering Holiday of the Year", we had made it through the hundreds of entries to the final four.
Special Events and Group Bookings.
If you have a special event to celebrate - we will help in any way we can. The Haybarton will now sit 10/12 and we have extra cutlery and crockery for these occasions. We will also be happy to supply a GIFT TOKEN if you would like to surprise loved ones with a break away. We regularly have parties celebrating special birthdays and anniversaries.
Green Tourism
We at Bidwell Farm are doing all that we can to engage in, and to promote, environmentally friendly practices. We try to help guests who want to participate in this commitment without pressure or fanaticism.
New facilities at Bidwell for the young at heart
We opened up the field beyond the garden to create an area for football, cricket, croquet, badminton and boules. Rustic swings and a clatter bridge have been added to this area.
During 2008 we built a large brick barbecue for the use of our guests and provided extra picnic tables that are dotted around our orchard but can be moved to suit your needs.
