Walks

The Blackdown Hills form a tranquil, beautiful, and relatively isolated landscape on the Devon and Somerset border. Steep ridges, high plateau, valleys and springs create a charming mosaic of countryside dotted with farms, villages and ancient features. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (one of only 38 such areas in England and Wales) there are many walks both from the cottage and in the surrounding countryside.

We are a one hour drive to the rugged beauty of Exmoor and 45 minutes to the Quantock Hills made famous by William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge where the beauty of these Somerset Hills inspired a romantic poetry movement. The 51 miles from Nether Stowey to Lynmouth is called The Coleridge Way and links together the South West Coast Path with the Two Moors Way.

Bidwell Farm is 20 minutes from the Jurassic Coast. A world Heritage Site which spans 95 miles from Exmouth in East Devon to Studland Bay in Dorset. Sweeping beaches, dramatic cliffs, blustery headlands, sheltered coves… The JurassicCoast has many things to offer lovers of a landscape adventure. Whether it’s pastoral tranquility, rugged footpaths or wide sea views you’re looking for there is something here for you.
