Award Winning!!

As I completed the fairly lengthy application form to enter the awards last year, it struck me how much effort we go to in order to make our cottages special. I have always approached our cottages as an extension of my own home. I clean them like I clean my own (ok, I don’t clean my oven every week at home!), I take pride in them, but more importantly; I make them safe, warm and comfortable just like my own home. I love that these awards don’t just look at how new the furniture is or do we have a hot tub. The judges want to know all the behind the scenes things that our guests may never see.  We recycle, we try to keep up our eco-credentials, we link in with  other local businesses and promote each other. I love that our delicious welcome pack comes from amazing local companies (even the dog treats are local!). Would guests even know the amount of time I spent compiling the information guides in the cottages? Probably not, but when I see them making the most out of their holiday and seeing, visiting and eating the best bits of our wonderful area then I know that I have had a part in that. I am thrilled to bits with our award and it feels just as good as when we get a glowing review from one of our guests. I guess we are doing something right and that feels pretty good.
